A&E robot wins award at Seatec show

Boero ph-merlo 080717 (164)  The A&E Yacht maintenance Robot that is used exclusively with Supernavi products and works in partnership with the Boero company demonstated it's clear added value on the Seatec show in Carara. The reference event for the marine industry, Seatec brings together quality companies and is the ideal venue for presenting products and innovation, events and international competitions. This is the case of the Qualitec Technology Award, an award for innovative technology, set up to award and promote technology innovation put forward and presented by companies exhibiting at Seatec, the seventh International exhibition for technology, supplies and design for boats, yachts and ships. The Robot is able to sand all applied filler and highbuild primers as well as the alumunium surface.
A high profile jury examined the projects for 2009’s competition composed of Paolo Scifoni (chairman), Giampiero Audino and Paolo Colombo who, after examining a really remarkable series of products on show, assigned first place to the company A&E Yacht Services based in Viareggio for IMR 1.0, an actual system for the robotic application of complete filling and topcoat cycles on super yacht hulls that, according to the official motivation, is a significant step ahead in many areas such as the pre-calculation of the quantities of filler necessary, continuous applications over longer periods of time and so lower overall time as well as a significant reduction of accident risks related to work high up on scaffolding, with a significant reduction of dust dispersed in the environment. The “robot” carries out the application of the various coats and the milling of each coat so as to carry out the established cycles with an accuracy that is not possible by traditional methods at a lower overall cost compared to traditional methods.

Mariotti launches Admiral 54

On 17th July, a celebration for the delivery to the ship owner sanctioned the official launch of the Admiral 54, the first 54 metre mega yacht designed by AMY, the joint venture between CNL and T.Mariotti of Genoa shipyards founded in October 2005 for the construction of displacement mega yachts under Admiral brand.
“An important goal and a further confirmation for our brand in the world of Super yachts”, the Chairman of AMY, Annamaria Jaselli Ceccarelli, confided emotionally just before the arrival of the guests. “In less than three years from its beginning, AMY today celebrates the delivery of its first order, while a 54 metre sister ship recently purchased by a Middle-eastern ship-owner is at present under construction with delivery in 2010”, the vice-president, Marco Bisagno, added with pride.
On the evening of the celebration more than 400 guests were welcomed in the evocative frame of the marina of the Exhibition Centre in Genoa, transformed for the event in a surprising way. The whole presentation was accompanied by the spellbinding voice of a fascinating soprano, seemingly ethereal standing out on the prow of the yacht, finally the real star of the evening arrived, M/Y SEA FORCE ONE. Emotions and amazement were the conclusion of a unique event.
230608_1556Those present were the ship-owner, his family and friends, the AMY management - Annamaria Jaselli Ceccarelli, president, Marco Bisagno, vice-president, Francesco Ceccarelli, AD, Massimo Allegri, AD, Laura Ceccarelli,  member of the Board of Directors, the town council major representatives, national and international press and numerous friends who enjoyed the evening intensely.
The M/Y SEA FORCE ONE, designed by Luca Dini Design is presented on the international scene as a really unique ship.
The hull is distinguished immediately by its colour, shiny black, the silhouette of the ship is imposing but sinuous thanks to the lateral rounding off of the silver grey superstructure, the fibre optic illumination in the saloons to strip lighting under the keel which give it a unique night visibility have been carefully designed. The elegant yacht, which was completely finished in the Supernavi paint system will be presented for the first time at the next Monaco Boat Show. The strong personality of the ship-owner is evident in every aspect. Designed to accommodate 10 passengers in 5 cabins and up to 12 crew members, the yacht reaches 54 metres in length, 10.50 metres in width and expands over four decks.

Benetti-Azimut Yachtmasters more spectacular then ever before

The 2008 edition of the annual event organised for the captains of Benetti or Azimut yachts was a great success. Group_4110_final2lowThe location was carefully chosen by the organisation and directly linked to the special outdoor activities.

Like always there where the very informative seminars set up by Norma Trease and the major suppliers of the company. Norma_trease These suppliers, Fraser Yachts, Flagship, Asea power systems, Cat, Naiad Marine, Rina, Dockwise  and last but not least Boero supernavi  that usually perform the act of  sponsors during the yachtmasters.
One very hot subject during the seminars was the fact that it becomes harder and harder to find good crews in the ever expanding Superyacht business. This also counts for the employers of subcontractors that work on the many simultaneously build projects.
Img_1022 Adogs_4258_medSestriere was the picturesque location for the occasion created the scenery needed for the outdoor events that where programmed for the participating captains. They couldn’t have chosen more spectacular sports this time ; dog sledges, snow scooters and a Bob sledge.

Abob_4630bis_med_2The large group of captains ( around 40 ) managed to take the scooters to the limit and the Olympic Bob pushed close to 125 km per hour !!!! It resulted in one destroyed snow scooter (with no person injured, the same could not be said about the one tree present on the track).

The Bob was driven by a professional pilot and this was a good thing, because most participants came out with goose-bumps. The track was used during the last Olympics in 2006 and is one of two existing tracks in Italy.

Benetti Azimut did a fantastic job and therefor they will have a very hard time to organise an even better event during next year.

Benetti/Azimut Yachtmasters n°7

The Anual Benetti / Azimut Yachtmasters of 2007 was organised in a rather different surrounding in comparison to all the previous editions of this event. Livorno where the large construction facility of Benetti has it’s location was the destination for the invited captains and sponsors. Boero/Supernavi was invited as one of the main suppliers of Benetti/Azimut and had a large part of their export department present in Livorno. As usual the hotel / resort was something special. Hidden in a typical Tuscan village on the outskirts of Livorno and only several meters from the sea.

Wine_cellarPoerio

The program this year included a visit to the shipyard where  Vincenzo Poerio presented the whole new Benetti facility that will be constructed in the next three years ( complete with hotel and shops ), followed later in the afternoon by a visit to the young, but famous vineyard Guado Al Tasso. The evening-event took place in a beautiful ,,little castle,, where the owner served a typical Tuscan dinner.

Marine_presentationThe next day the whole group of around 50 people were moved to the a very interesting location: The famous Marine Academy of Livorno. There a seminar took place for all the captains that was organised by Norma Trease and Benetti. This seminar had a variety of subjects that included Electronic cartography, Positioning satellite systems and Yacht management under different flags.

Later that afternoon they could all enjoy a nice demonstration of the Academy students out on the court-yard. The next morning was a funny blast for the ones that wished to try out their ‘’golf skills’’, which apparently nobody possessed . Benetti has managed again to organise an event for Captains and sponsors that resulted in a large group of friends who look forward to the next edition.

Superyacht cup in Antigua : Sensational

Antigua’s Superyacht season is well underway, and Nelson’s Dockyard has been busy, first with the Charter Yacht Meeting and then with the 1st Superyacht Cup Antigua. A unique event followed hard on the heel from the success of The Superyacht Cup in Palma, but with a change from the Mediterranean to a Caribbean style!
Maltese20falconFollowing directly after the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting, the Superyacht Cup attracted interest from many of the yachts who annually visit the Caribbean as well as new yachts from the US and Europe. The event followed broadly the same format as in Palma, held over four days with sailing on three of the days. Pursuit racing and a specially developed ‘superyacht performance assessment’ gave the very different styles and sizes of yachts a chance to compete against each other, and provided for exciting, competitive sailing for everyone. Each evening the social program displayed the best of Caribbean hospitality at the famous Superyacht Cup dock-side parties.
A lot of yachts took part in 1st Superyacht Cup Antigua including the renowned Maltese Falcon, the revolutionary 88M clipper built by Perini Navi and launched earlier this year. Also taking part was Peter Harrison’s Farr designed Sojana, who took part in SYC Palma, down from the US was Patient Falcon. With the Mirabella V ( 75m ), the largest sloop in the world putting on a great show when joining the fleet and racing against the Maltese Falcon. The two completly different vessels both showed their strenght in 20 to 24 knots tradewinds. The Maltese Falcon with full sail, pulled out well in front on the reach, whereas up-wind, Mirabella V could sail a more direct track up to the turn mark.Despite most of the attention that went to these BIG yachts, Peter Harrison's 35m Ketch, Sojana put on a great performance to win the first race. The dates for the next Superyacht Cup Antigua will be December 12th till 15th 2007. For more info

Boero's turns 175 !

The 2006 annual Boero Supernavi Sales meeting took place on the island of Sardinia. All representatives from Italy, France and the USA were present to review last years achievements and the plans for the up coming season. Boero_supernavi_the_maltese_falcon The meeting had a special flavour this year, because it was combined with the celebration of it’s 175th anniversary. Also the fact that the Perini Navi regatta took place at exactly the same time and place was not a coincidence. The annual event is organised to boost moral, review sales figures and introduce new products. The sales of all sectors of the company are up. Italian sales, with the majority of the superyacht business had large increase, France and the Global export where doing no less. Reason enough to look with full confidence to the future. This years latest arrivals are, Epoprofile , a 1:1 light weight filler, that has excellent sanding and application features that will save time and money. Also the new Challenger Hi-Solid acrylic topcoat made it’s debut. This product which has an unlimited colour variety stands out, because of it’s easy to apply characteristics and it’s super high gloss.

Maltese_falcon_during_perini_regatta_200 Naturally it was also a pleasant site to watch the 14 Perini superyachts sail in the bay with over 265,000 litres of Supernavi paint products on them, making sure every squire inch of these precious vessels is protected. The regatta included 14 of the finest luxurious sailing yachts in the world, including it’s newest member; ‘’ the Maltese Falcon ‘’. This 88 meter yacht demonstrated it’s unique features ,such furling and tacking completely automatically. This vessel is capable of exceeding 20 knots. The fact that the Supernavi filler used on the vessel is ultra light naturally helped to contribute to it’s outstanding performance. For additional information contact b.yachtexport@boero.it

Boero pulls off first large applicators meeting

Groups_photo_at_spectrumThe first ever Italian applicators meeting on foreign ground almost gave the impression that Boero does nothing else like organising large events as this one, every detail had been thought of. The large group of applicators had been invited to get on the plane and fly to Holland to be briefed on the latest developments in the Supernavi yachtpaint range. A new filler, a machine to mix the filler and a new two component topcoat. Naturally these novelties alone wouldn’t be enough to attract a ‘’rough’’ bunch of Italian painters to put down their brush/spraygun and fly to another country. No problem for Boero says Lorenzo Camoirano( Yachtpaint manager ), Amsterdam is a city that has a lot to offer and the nightlife never ends. The moment the whole crew arrived at the airport they were transported to one of the largest Go-Kart racing centres in the country and prepared for a Grandprix . The Coronel Kart centre has two large circuits that are scale models of real formula one race circuits.Dscn0145 The Italians or import Italians reconfirmed their reputation as reckless drivers, because it would be difficult to come up with another example of a race with more incidents.

Saturday morning all the adrenaline had disappeared again and everybody was transported to the distribution centre of Spectrum ( the Dutch distributor of Boero ) There Piere luigi Stortoni ( Boero,s laboratory spokesman ) explained all the ins and outs of the New Challenger HS and the Epoprofile.  This new polyurethane topcoat should become globally available from the start of 2007 in more then three thousand colours (including metallic versions). It will also be a polishable topcoat . The new epoxy filler is different from the usual Supernavi versions, because it is quit sticky and does not run when you apply it in high thickness. Another large difference is that if you pull your knife up and down six or seven times it will not roll up and pull off.
Applicators_meeting_amsterdam_2006The day was completed with a boat-ride on the Amsterdam canals and a dinner, before they were set free to roam the city centre. The  Boero management has been very satisfied with the turn out of the event and assured that it will be repeated in the near future.

Seminars in Turkey succesful

The first step is usually the hardest, but Boero finally took the initiative to organise a yachtpaint seminar together with Carkçi it’s distributor. Seminar_istanbul The plan to explain in English and Turkish to a wide range of applicators what the specifics were of all the Boero Yacht products worked out perfectly.
During the four hour meeting , Bert Nieuwenhuizen ( Boero export manager ) and Birol Ernalbant   ( Boero technical assistant ) managed to discuss most details of Antifouling, varnishes, fillers & primers and finally topcoats. A little side presentation was prepared to show  the attendants the ,, Maltese Falcon ,, project. Boero who is expending it’s interest every year in Turkey tries to turn the seminars into a yearly event. This year the first two took place in Istanbul and Antalya and were well visited.Seminar_istanbul_3  Tuzla in Istanbul is a booming centre of Yacht and shipbuilding and has a high concentration of mainly Turkish applicators. Antalya has a very interesting Free-zone where the main activity is Yacht building. Only on the Free-zone there are already around 15 different Yacht builders that sell their vessels to foreign owners.
